During years of drought, Lower Lake Mary can dwindle in size until it disappears altogether. The lake may provide opportunities for boating, fishing, or swimming but access will depend on specific rules.

Call 1-877-999-2929 to reserve your With 38 serviced (power) campsites the lower campground offers great fishing at the base of the dam where the St Mary’s River continues its journey eastward and there is a small spring fed pond in which to swim. The visitor center is a shuttle stop on the Going to the Sun Road shuttle, which is highly recommended to access the center of the park. (Call park for details).
Vault toilets are open. Eleven campsites at Canyon Vista are suitable for tents or trailers 22 feet or less in length. I think it is more suited to what you plan to do in the park. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park in western Ohio is a gorgeous park full of fun activities. Camping reservations can be booked up to 4 p.m. on the day of arrival. Aune Osborn Campground lies along 20 acres of waterfront property on the lower St.Mary’s River. Campgrounds are opening to 100% by July 1. The best feature of this campground is the proximity to the St. Mary Visitor Center - it's a 0.25 mile walk from the campground on an accessible trail. Reservations made easy! Canyon Vista Campground (fs.usda.gov) is an excellent place to access the lake when it exists, as well as nearby Walnut Canyon.
